Guided Story
Imagine standing in the middle of an exam, but it's unlike any exam you've ever taken. In front of you is the theology student Jobs, full of confidence yet utterly clueless, driving his examiners mad. Notice his expression—how artist Karl Ulrich Nuss captures that blend of bravado and ignorance. Behind you, the Pauluskirche rises, providing a beautiful backdrop to this whimsical scene. The fountain was donated by Deutsche Bank in 1987, but its story is rooted in the satirical work of Carl Arnold Kortum, a physician with a knack for humor. This sculpture is more than just art; it's a reflection of Bochum's culture and history. If you look closely, you might even spot the traces of vandalism from 2013, when the fountain was sprayed with white paint—a testament to its enduring presence in the city.
