Georgskapelle

Take a moment to admire the façade of the Georgskapelle. This chapel, with its Romanesque architecture and early Gothic elements, stands as a testament to a storied past. Originally part of the Teutonic Order Commandery in Ramersdorf, it served as a sacred prayer space. Imagine the members of the convent gathering here, surrounded by monumental medieval vault and wall paintings. In the 19th century, the chapel was affected by a fire. However, thanks to restoration efforts on the Old Cemetery, some reproductions of its intricate medieval paintings have been preserved. Johann Claudius von Lassaulx, a notable architect, played a role in its preservation. To your left, you can see the Old Cemetery, providing a serene setting for this historic site.
