Here you are at Georgplatz, named after King George, the penultimate Saxon monarch. This square was created after the Jüdenteich was drained around 1850, transforming the area into a central part of Dresden. Imagine the Kreuzschule, which once stood here on the east side, constructed between 1864 and 1865. Unfortunately, during the devastating air raids of 1945, all surrounding buildings were destroyed. Nowadays, the square is characterized by traffic areas and green spaces. Look around and you might spot monuments, like the Theodor Körner Memorial, located just 59 meters southeast.
