Guided Story
Imagine holding a coin that once passed through the hands of kings and merchants centuries ago. Here in the Coin Cabinet, you can discover treasures just like that. Look to your left, and you'll see some of the oldest coins in Europe. Did you know the collection was founded in the early 16th century? It's one of the oldest of its kind in Germany. Notice the intricate details on the medals – they tell stories of the past, almost like a little history book made of metal. As you look around, you might spot minting stamps from the Saxon State Mint. These small tools once held great significance and offer a glimpse into the world of coin minting. History becomes tangible here, so close and yet so distant.
