Grugapark in Essen was created in 1929 from the Great Ruhr Horticultural Exhibition and reopened as a public park a year later. After World War II destruction and subsequent reconstruction, it hosted the second Gruga Exhibition in 1952 and the Federal Garden Show in 1965. Today, the park serves as a space for leisure, sports, and cultural events.
