Rathenauplatz in Frankfurt am Main is steeped in history, once part of the medieval Roßmarkt. Initially known as Comoedienplatz, it was named after the first Frankfurt city theater built in 1780. During the Weimar Republic, it was renamed in honor of the assassinated Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau.
