Harkortsee, completed in 1931, is a reservoir along the Ruhr River situated between the cities of Hagen, Herdecke, and Wetter. It was originally constructed by the Ruhrverband as a river clarification plant and is one of six reservoirs on the Ruhr, named after entrepreneur Friedrich Harkort.
