Standing here, you're facing a memorial built in 1936. It's a war monument commemorating fallen soldiers, dating back to the Nazi era. You're near the site of the former Dammtor city gate. This area has a rich history that stretches back to the 19th century. Look around, and you'll notice that the street names still recall the old city gate. To the north, you'll find another monument dedicated to deserters and other victims of Nazi military justice.
