Guided Story
Imagine standing here on the edge of the Eilenriede, gazing up at the towering figure of Field Marshal Alfred von Waldersee. Did you know this statue was erected during World War I, a time of great turmoil? The sculptor, Bernhard Hoetger, captured Waldersee in an imposing stance. If you look to your left, you can see the Waldersee Villa. This is where the Field Marshal lived until his passing. Notice how Kleine Pfahlstraße ends right here, almost as if guiding you to history. The tranquility of the park behind you contrasts with the powerful story this statue continues to tell.
