Known as the Needle's Eye, the Neues Tor is one of the two remaining city gates of Hildesheim's fortifications. It pierces the Kehrwiederwall just south of Lappenberg Island, constructed after 1511 when the Godehard Monastery was incorporated into the city's defenses.
