Die Seenotretter DGzRS Station Schilksee

Here, at the western entrance of the Kiel Fjord, stands the DGzRS Lifeboat Station Schilksee. Established for the 1972 Olympic Games, it plays a crucial role in maritime rescue operations. Take a look around, and you'll notice its strategic position, perfectly situated to respond swiftly to emergencies on the Baltic Sea. This station is operated by the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service, a group dedicated to saving lives at sea. Right in front of you is the core of this station, a lifeboat manned by passionate volunteers from Kiel-Schilksee and the surrounding area. A short walk south will bring you to the Vaasahalle, and further southeast, the Olympic Harbour Schilksee.
