Guided Story
Feel that fresh sea breeze on your face? Right here, at the western exit of the Kiel Fjord, a story of bravery and determination began in 1972. Look to your left, and you'll see the modern rescue boat, always ready for its next mission. This station was established for the Olympic Games, when the world was not only focused on sports but also on safety at sea. Behind you is the impressive Schilksee Olympic Harbor, a symbol of sporting spirit and collaboration. From here, the volunteer rescuers of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service launch their missions to help those in distress. It's a proud tradition that continues to this day, and you can feel it right here in Schilksee.
