The Schleyer kidnapping is commemorated by a sandstone stele at the entrance to Cologne's city forest. A copper plaque at its base bears an inscription dedicated to the victims of terrorism. Erected by the citizens of Cologne on September 5, 1977, it commemorates the murder of Hanns Martin Schleyer.
