From the early 18th century until 1912, the Magdeburg Fortress was one of Prussia’s strongest fortresses. A significant feature is the Wittenberger Gate, integral to its powerful structure. Between 1807 and 1814, the fortress was part of the Kingdom of Westphalia, a satellite state of Napoleon.
