Guided Story

Imagine standing here in the 18th century. This was a bustling place, a hub for Mainz's high society. Johann Friedrich Karl von Ostein, who commissioned this palace, was famous for his lavish parties. Look to your left, and you might imagine carriages arriving, noble guests stepping out in their finest attire. Look up, the baroque details speak of a time when art and architecture were intertwined. Behind you, towards the Osteiner Hof, there was always a flurry of activity. These grand buildings' proximity tells of the power and influence these families wielded. Today, it houses the Ministry of the Interior, but the old walls still whisper tales of past glory.
