The Neuer Brunnen in Mainz, built by Johannes Weydt between 1724 and 1726, features a 12-meter tall obelisk made of red sandstone. The obelisk is adorned with bas-reliefs on various themes and surrounded by sculptures depicting river gods and lions. This late Baroque masterpiece is a cultural heritage monument in Germany and the namesake of Neubrunnenplatz.
