The Jägertor, built in 1733, is the oldest surviving city gate in Potsdam. Originally part of the excise wall, it was intended to prevent desertion and smuggling rather than for defense. It stands at an angle due to the diagonal path of Lindenstraße. After the city wall was demolished in 1869, it remains a standalone structure.
