The Kuhtor is the oldest of the remaining four gates from the original 22 of Rostock's historic city fortifications and is one of the city's oldest buildings. It is an architectural heritage monument in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, part of the city's fortification. Standing at 14 meters, it is considered the oldest surviving city gate in Northern Germany.
