Rebuilt and consecrated in 1966, the Friedenskirche in Stuttgart stands as a modern architectural marvel in concrete. While the original neo-Romanesque structure from 1892 was mostly destroyed during World War II, its tower survived and continues to be a city landmark. The church now doubles as a venue for concerts, enriching the cultural scene.

Guided Story

In front of you stands Friedenskirche, a prominent example of modern church architecture in Stuttgart. Rebuilt in 1966 using concrete, it replaced the original 1892 structure that was lost to war, except for the tower which still proudly stands. Serving the Evangelische Friedensgemeinde, this Lutheran church also functions as a concert venue. Look around and notice the striking contrast between the robust concrete of the 1960s and the preserved historic tower. Just about 375 meters to the southwest, you can find the ruins of the staircase of the former Neues Lusthaus, another piece of Stuttgart's history.
