Unveiled in 1839, the Schiller Monument on Stuttgart's Schillerplatz was Germany's first significant tribute to Schiller. Designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen with architectural plans by Nikolaus Friedrich von Thouret, it's a major work of Classicism. The bronze statue, cast in Munich, stands at 9.56 meters tall.
