Kienlesbergbastion (Werk X)

Here at the Kienlesberg Bastion, you're standing before a significant piece of Ulm's history. Built in 1852, this bastion is an integral part of the Ulm Fortress, exemplifying 19th-century military architecture. Just 106 meters to the southwest, you can see the Contregarde am Kienlesberg, another monument highlighting the defensive strategies of that era. This bastion was not only a defense post but also a symbol of Ulm's strategic importance. To the north, at a distance of 283 meters, lies the Courtine zur Wilhelmsburg, another historic part of this grand fortress complex. The entire Ulm Fortress, of which this bastion is a part, illustrates the city's need for defense over 150 years ago.
