What is the alert radius?

🤝 Community1 min read·Updated today

Alert Radius

When you create an alert, you set a radius in kilometres. This determines how far from the alert location members will be notified.

How It Works

The radius is centred on the location you set when creating the alert. Only community members whose location falls within this circle will receive a notification.

Choosing the Right Radius

  • Small radius (1–2 km): Good for a specific neighbourhood, building, or park
  • Medium radius (5–10 km): Suitable for a district or small town
  • Large radius (20+ km): For a wider area or city-wide alerts

Tips

  • Start with a smaller radius — you can always create a new broader alert if needed
  • Consider the type of alert: a lost dog may travel farther than a lost wallet
  • The radius is shown on the alert card so other members know the covered area
