Resolving an Alert

When your lost item is found, your pet returns home, or the situation is otherwise handled, you should resolve the alert promptly. This lets your community know and stops further notifications.

How to Resolve

  1. Go to your alert: Navigate to the alert detail page
  2. Tap "Mark as Resolved": Found at the bottom of the alert details
  3. Confirm: A confirmation dialog will ask you to verify โ€” this action cannot be undone

What Happens When You Resolve

  • The alert status changes to Resolved
  • Community members who were notified receive a resolution update
  • No new sighting reports can be submitted against this alert
  • Existing sighting data is retained for 90 days, then automatically cleaned up

Using Sightings to Find Your Item

Before resolving, review any sighting reports on your alert:

  • Verify sightings: Mark helpful sighting reports as verified to track progress
  • Contact reporters: If a reporter allowed contact, send them a message to get more details
  • Check photos: Sighting photos can help confirm whether the item matches

Auto-Expiry

If you forget to resolve an alert, it will automatically expire after a configured period. However, resolving promptly is courteous to your community and helps keep the alert board focused.
