What is Self-Service Exploration?

Self-Service Exploration is an itemID feature that lets you create, manage, and share your own trails and places. You don't need an official city exploration program — everything is in your hands.

What Can You Do?

• Create trails: Combine multiple places into a trail and share it with friends or the public
• Create personal places: Set up your own locations with a name, description, and position — each place gets a QR code
• Check in: Confirm your visit at a location via GPS or QR code scan
• Earn achievements: Complete trails to earn badges and points

How Is This Different from City Exploration?

City Exploration is run by tourism boards and partners — with official points of interest and curated trails. Self-Service Exploration gives you the tools to create your own experiences: family walks, scavenger hunts, neighborhood tours, and more.

Your ID Types

itemID offers six ID types in two groups:

• Protect: Items, Pets, and Emergency IDs — for protecting and recovering your belongings
• Explore & Manage: Places, Trails, and Facilities — for exploring and organizing

Getting Started

Create a free itemID account and tap the "+" button to create your first trail or place. The free tier includes 1 trail and 3 places.
