Community Reporting & Moderation

itemID communities are self-moderating. Every member can report content that seems inappropriate, and the system handles the rest automatically.

Reporting Content

If you see an alert or sighting that looks inappropriate, misleading, or harmful, tap the "Report" button on that content. You will be asked to select a reason:

  • Spam: Advertising, repeated content, or off-topic posts
  • Misleading: False or inaccurate information
  • Inappropriate: Offensive or harmful content
  • Other: Something else โ€” you can add a note

What Happens After a Report?

  1. Your report is recorded and sent to the moderation queue
  2. If the content receives reports from multiple independent users, it is automatically hidden from the community feed
  3. The content owner is notified that their content was hidden for review
  4. A community moderator reviews the report and decides whether to restore or permanently remove the content

Automatic Hiding

To protect the community quickly, content is automatically hidden when it reaches a report threshold โ€” this typically requires reports from at least 3 different users. Auto-hidden content:

  • Is no longer visible in the community feed
  • Remains accessible to the content owner and moderators
  • The owner receives a notification explaining what happened
  • Can be restored by a moderator if the reports are unfounded

Moderation Review

Community moderators review reported and auto-hidden content. They can:

  • Restore: Make the content visible again if it was incorrectly reported
  • Remove: Permanently remove content that violates guidelines

Fair Use

  • Reports are anonymous โ€” the content owner does not see who reported them
  • Repeated false reports may result in restrictions on your account
  • If your content was hidden and you believe it was a mistake, wait for the moderation review โ€” moderators typically respond within 24 hours
