Interactive Alert Map

The interactive map helps you set precise locations when creating alerts and provides a visual overview of alert coverage and sighting activity.

Creating an Alert

When you create a new alert:

  1. Tap the map to place a marker where the item or pet was last seen
  2. A circle overlay shows the alert radius — the area where community members will be notified
  3. Adjust the radius slider to control how far the alert reaches
  4. The map automatically centres on the location you selected

Viewing an Alert

On an alert detail page, the map shows:

  • The original location where the item was last seen
  • Sighting markers for each reported sighting with location data
  • A trail line connecting sightings in chronological order (when there are multiple sightings)

Tap on any sighting marker to see the details and notes left by the reporter.

Tips

  • Zoom in for a more precise location — the more accurate the pin, the better
  • The circle overlay gives you a visual sense of how far your alert will reach
  • Sighting trails can help you predict direction of travel for lost pets
