Medical Alerts

The Medical Alerts topic is designed for situations where a person carrying a medical emergency ID has gone missing. These alerts are treated with high priority because safety may be at risk.

When to Use Medical Alerts

  • An elderly family member with dementia has wandered away
  • A person with a medical condition who needs regular medication has gone missing
  • Someone has been found with an itemID medical emergency card and the owner needs to be located

How It Works

  1. The alert creator selects the "Medical Alerts" topic
  2. Community members subscribed to medical alerts receive a notification
  3. The alert appears with a priority indicator on the alerts board
  4. Community members can report sightings just like any other alert

Subscribing to Medical Alerts

To receive medical alerts, subscribe to the "Medical Alerts" topic in your community settings. If you live in an area with elderly or vulnerable neighbours, this topic can be especially helpful.

Privacy

Medical alerts follow the same privacy rules as all other alerts — the person's medical details are never shared publicly. Only information that can help locate them (appearance, last known location) is included.
