What are Community Networks?

Community Networks
Community Networks bring together people who live, work, or spend time in the same area. By joining a network, you become part of a local group that can share alerts about lost items, missing pets, or emergencies nearby.
How Do They Work?
- Local focus: Each community is centred around a specific area — a neighbourhood, campus, park, or workplace
- Shared alerts: Members can post alerts when something goes missing, visible only to people in the same network
- Topic subscriptions: Choose which types of alerts you want to receive (lost items, missing pets, emergencies)
- Privacy-first: Your personal information is never shared — only alert details are visible to other members
Who Can Join?
Anyone with an itemID account can browse and join Community Networks. Some communities may have guidelines or descriptions to help you find the right ones for your area.
Benefits
- Faster recovery of lost items through local awareness
- Neighbourhood-level alerts when something goes missing
- A connected community that looks out for each other
