How do I check in at a place?

How to Check In
Checking in confirms that you actually visited a place. There are two methods:
Method 1: QR Code Scan
- Find the QR code at the location (on a sign, plaque, or sticker)
- Scan it with your smartphone camera
- The itemID page opens and confirms your check-in
Method 2: GPS Proximity
- Open the place page on itemID
- Tap the "Check in" button
- Allow location access when prompted
- If you're close enough to the location, your check-in is confirmed
What Happens After Check-in?
- You receive points for your visit
- The place is marked as visited in your Explorer profile
- You make progress on active trails and campaigns
- You may unlock achievements
