How check-ins work
A check-in confirms that you've visited a place. itemID offers several ways to check in.
Geolocation check-in
With a geolocation check-in, itemID automatically verifies that you're near the place.
- Requires location permission in your browser
- Automatically verifies your proximity to the place
- Visual feedback on successful check-in
- Clear message if you're too far away
QR code check-in
Many places have a physical QR code that you scan on-site. This is the most reliable method and works without GPS β ideal for indoor locations.
- Scan the QR code at the place
- Automatic recognition and check-in
- Works inside buildings without GPS signal
Manual check-in
For personal trails, the creator can allow manual check-in β you simply tap "Check in" without location or QR verification.
