Can finders see my email address or phone number?

What Finders See

When someone scans your item's QR code, they see limited information — by design.

Visible to Finders

• Item name and description
• Item photo (if added)
• Item status (lost, stolen, etc.)
• Your display name
• A message form

Hidden from Finders

• ❌ Your email address
• ❌ Your phone number
• ❌ Your real name (unless you use it as display name)
• ❌ Your home address
• ❌ Your other items

Why Secure Chat?

Protecting your privacy encourages using itemID without hesitation. You can decide later whether to share personal details with a specific finder.

Exception

If you reply to a finder via email notification (instead of the in-app chat), your email may be visible. We recommend using the ID chat for full privacy.
