Complete guide to registering your first item.

Register Your First Item

After logging into your dashboard, click the "Add Item" button to begin registering your first item. You'll be guided through a simple process that takes less than a minute. Start by choosing the type β€” Item, Pet, or Emergency Card β€” and then provide a name and optional description for easy identification.

For standard items, you might register things like keys, wallets, bags, laptops, bicycles, or luggage. Give each item a descriptive name so you can quickly identify it in your dashboard later.

Adding Details

While only a name is required, adding more details makes your items easier to manage. You can include:

  • A photo of the item for easy visual identification
  • A description with identifying features
  • A category to organize your items
  • A custom message that finders will see when they scan the QR code

The custom finder message is particularly powerful β€” you can include instructions like "Please contact me, there's a reward!" or "If found, please drop at the nearest hotel reception."

Setting the Status

Each item has a status that controls what finders see. When you first register an item, it's set to "In Possession" by default. If you lose the item, change the status to "Lost" to activate enhanced finder notifications and display a prominent alert to anyone who scans the code.

Your QR Code is Ready

Once your item is registered, a unique QR code is automatically generated for it. You can view, download, or print this QR code directly from the item's detail page. Every QR code is unique and permanently linked to your item β€” it never expires and will always work as long as your account is active.
