Everything about creating places, discovering points of interest, and sharing your favorite spots on the Explorer map.

What Are Places?

Places are digital pins on the Explorer map. They range from official points of interest managed by cities and organizations to your own personal favorite spots. Every place gets its own page with a description, photos, and a QR code for sharing.

Two Kinds of Places

Public Places

Public places are created by cities, tourism boards, or organizations. They appear on the public Explorer map and can be part of campaigns, trails, or souvenir experiences. Examples include:

  • Museums, monuments, and historic buildings
  • Parks, viewpoints, and natural attractions
  • Restaurants, cafΓ©s, and local shops
  • Event venues and tourist attractions

Personal Places

Personal places are your private markers β€” favorite cafΓ©s, hiking destinations, photo spots, or other meaningful locations. They're visible only to you by default and appear in your personal places section.

  • Create them from the creation page with the "Place" type
  • Pick the location on the map or enter an address
  • Add photos and a description
  • Optionally share them with friends via the QR code

Creating a Place

Create a new place from your dashboard or the creation page. Select "Place" as the type and enter:

  • Name and description of the place
  • Location on the map (click or type an address)
  • Category (e.g., Nature, Culture, Food & Drink, Leisure)
  • Photos for a visual preview

Discovering Places on the Map

The Explorer map shows public places near you. Filter by category to find exactly what you're looking for. Tap a marker to see details β€” including photos, description, and distance.

When you visit a public place and scan the QR code on-site, your visit is recorded. Collect check-ins and unlock achievements as you explore your city.

QR Codes for Places

Every place has its own QR code. For public places, this is often displayed as a sign or sticker on-site. For personal places, you can print the QR code using the label designer and post it at your favorite spot β€” or share it digitally with friends.
