Everything about registering, managing, and protecting your belongings with itemID.

What Are itemID Items?

The core of itemID: register your valuable belongings and connect them to your digital profile via QR code labels. From keys and laptops to luggage and sports equipment β€” every item gets a unique digital identity.

When someone finds your lost item and scans the QR code, they can contact you instantly β€” anonymously and securely.

Registering Items

Create a new item from your dashboard. Enter a name and optionally add a description. You can also upload photos to help with identification.

  • Item name and description.
  • Photos for easy identification.
  • Optional notes (e.g., serial number, purchase date).

Item Categories

Assign categories to your items for better organization: Technology, Travel, Keys, Sports, Everyday, and more.

Item Statuses

Each item has a status that describes its current situation:

  • In Possession β€” The item is safely with you (default status).
  • Lost β€” You've misplaced or lost the item.
  • Stolen β€” The item was stolen from you.
  • Found β€” The item has been located and you're coordinating its return.
  • Lent β€” You've intentionally lent the item to someone.

Labels and QR Codes

Print QR code labels for your items at home or order pre-printed labels from the itemID shop. The labels are waterproof and scratch-resistant, making them easy to attach to your belongings.

When someone scans the QR code, they're automatically redirected to your item's itemID page where they can contact you anonymously.

What Happens When Someone Finds Your Item?

Finders simply scan the QR code with their smartphone. No app installation needed β€” the scan opens a mobile website where they can:

  • See that the item is registered.
  • Send you an anonymous message.
  • Share the find location with you.

Tips for Maximum Protection

Place labels in inconspicuous but accessible spots. For electronics, the back or underside works well. For luggage, the inside of the lid is ideal.
